If you try to install the software and the Setup.exe wouldn't run after you double-click on it, then nothing is happening. If you go to the Task Manager by pressing Ctrl, Alt, Delete key together, you find Setup.exe is running in the memory. That means a system component is holding the Setup.exe.

Some cases, it might be a security or compatibility issue in Windows Vista. But we find a case, which is not from Windows Security, Anti-virus or Firewall programs. In the normal case, the security programs usually will prompt the message for reason to not allow running the application.

The case we found is from CD/DVD Burning software with CD/DVD monitoring function. To take care this issue, you can go to Microsoft System Configuration (MSConfig.exe) page to stop or disable those CD/DVD services to prevent from loading. After rebooting your computer, then you should be able to run Setup.exe to install your software again.

   How to Remove CD/DVD Monitoring Program  

The following is the example found in Toshiba Notebook

1. Close all running programs.
2. Click on the Start button.
3. In the Start Menu Search Box type msconfig and press enter key.
4. The System Configuration utility will appear.

   

5. Click on the Starup tab, then the Startup screen appears.

   

    

6. Uncheck the CD/DVD monitor component (You must know which component related to CD/DVD)

7. Press the Apply button and then press the OK button.

8. You will be asked to reboot the computer.

   

    

9. Click on the Restart button to reboot your computer.

Another similar problem was found in the Nero CD/DVD Burning Suite. The Start-up item name is NMBgMonitor. You can use MSConfig to disable the Start-up option.

Also, check for the process name, such as NMBgMonitor.exe, NMIndexingService.exe, or NMIndexing,exe.
